How to Make Your Home Energy Efficient this Fall

 In Energy Efficiency, Home Comfort

It’s time to turn off that air conditioner and start closing up the windows for the fall season! Make sure your home is as energy efficient as possible with these tips:

• Seal leaks around doors, windows and electrical outlets to save up to 20% on your heating bill
• Clean your chimney and get vent systems checked
• Remove window air conditioners or, if they have to stay in place, make sure they’re caulked and sealed and have an insulated jacket
• Replace your old furnace with an energy efficient one to save up to 30% on your heating
• Upgrade the insulation in your home
• Add storm windows if you have single-pane windows
• Unblock any heating vents that might be covered by furniture or window coverings
