A Century of Fueling Comfort in Orangeville

Delivering care everyday since 1924

1920s

In 1924, Roy D. Bryan bought a livery stable in Orangeville and turned it into an auto dealership and garage. By the end of the decade, he and his brother Wilson were moving hay, grain, and livestock feed across Ontario.

1930s

To make their trips to Toronto profitable, Bryan’s entered the coal business. Tragedy struck in 1934 when a fire destroyed the garage and the family home above it. But Roy and Wilson rebuilt, stronger and more determined than ever.

1940s

Glen Bryan returned from WWII and joined the family business, bringing fresh energy and a new vision as Orangeville entered a post-war boom. Car sales took off again, and the seeds of a long-term heating business were planted.

1950s

As new homes sprang up, Glen saw an opportunity. In 1956, Bryan’s delivered its first tank of home heating oil—by pail. By the end of the decade, the company had sold the garage and focused entirely on fuel and coal.

1960s

With heating needs growing, Bryan’s began servicing and installing oil-burning equipment. The move to Green Street gave them room to expand their operations, store equipment, and grow their service fleet.

1970s

Greg Bryan joined the business, helping build out HVAC services alongside heating fuel. Bryan’s began offering a full suite of installation and maintenance to support customers through every season.

1980s

Bryan’s Fuel became an official Lennox Dealer in 1983, strengthening its commitment to reliable, high-quality heating and cooling products, a partnership that continues to this day. In 1988, Roy joined the family business, bringing with him the perspective of a professional engineer and the strategic thinking of an MBA. That same year, Roy and his brother Greg took over day-to-day operations as their father, Glen, moved into semi-retirement. With new leadership and fresh expertise, the company continued to grow while staying rooted in community values.

1990s

Bryan’s Fuel expanded into new construction, custom HVAC, and larger fuel storage. A move to Richardson Road in 1997 gave the company space to grow. In 1999, they celebrated 75 years of service to Orangeville.

2000s

Propane became the next big chapter, followed by geothermal installations. In 2005, they built a new propane bulk plant, two massive tanks ready to meet rising demand.

2010s

The fourth generation joined in: Graham as Service Manager in 2014, and Laura as Marketing Manager in 2018. Together, they brought fresh leadership, continuing the Bryan family legacy.

2020s

Bryan’s Fuel installed Canada’s first hybrid above- and underground propane tank system and grew its full fleet to 53 vehicles with 70+ employees. Now celebrating 100 years, Bryan’s continues to innovate while staying grounded in community values and family tradition.

2025

In July 2025, Roy Bryan retired after an inspiring and successful 37-year career at Bryan’s Fuel. His leadership, vision, and dedication have left a lasting mark on the company and the community it serves. As fourth-generation owners, Graham and Laura are proud to carry on their family’s legacy, honouring the past while building a strong, innovative future for Bryan’s Fuel.
